About NeXgen Therapies Individual Counseling

Individual counseling is also known as psychotherapy, talk therapy, or “treatment.” It involves working one-on-one in a confidential, safe and caring environment with a qualified mental health professional. Individual counseling is a way to examine your feelings, beliefs, and behaviors to work through complex or influential memories.

During individual counseling, you’ll identify aspects of life that you want to change, better understand others, and set goals to achieve your desired results vary.  In short, when you can’t see the forest for the trees, we can help.

Individual counseling focuses on your immediate and near-term concerns. Individual counseling can include career planning and counseling, grief after the death of a loved one, or handling problems at work before they become unsolvable. Counseling involves a one-on-1 conversation between the counselor and you. Together, you’ll both form an alliance, relationship, or bond that fosters trust and personal growth.

What are the Therapy Goals, Frequency and Duration for Individual Counseling?

With Individual Counseling at NexGen Therapies, the goal is to help you overcome your mental health issues and grow. Individual Counseling is client-driven. Your therapist will work with you to determine your goals.  Your clinician will help you establish goals early on. Clear goals will help guide you and allow you to track your progress in counseling.

Your counselor will be happy to answer any questions you may have about counseling. Your counselor’s view of the issues you bring to counseling and your goals for the work will determine your counseling experience.

Sessions of individual counseling last approximately an hour, sometimes a little more. Your needs, progress, and treatment goals will determine the frequency and length of individual counseling sessions. While many issues can be resolved quickly with short-term therapy; other complex or chronic problems require long-term commitment to achieve improvement.
